Injectable Fillers

About

Injectable fillers are soft tissue fillers that are injected into the wrinkles (skin) to give you a more youthful appearance. They fill in wrinkles and lines that result from sun exposure, aging, gravity and smoking.  They can be used to plump up lips and cheeks, reduce saggy skin and soften facial features. Results last up to a year and the typical procedure takes less than 30 minutes.

There are a variety of substances that are used as wrinkle fillers. All are absorbed by the body over a period of time, which means to maintain results repeated injections are necessary.

These substances include:
  • Hyaluronic acid                          - a natural lubricating gel produced by the body to plump skin.
  • Collagen                                       - a natural protein found in skin and tissues.
  • Poly-L-Lactic Acid                      - a synthetic substance made from alpha-hydroxy acid.
  • Calcium Hydroxylapatite        - a biodegradable mineral found in bone that is implanted as a gel.
  • Human fat

Injectable wrinkle treatment is performed in as as quick out-patient procedure that is performed in your doctor's office using either local or topical anesthesia. The results are immediate and last from 4 months to a year.
